About me
A passionate educator and advocate for equity in learning, Betsy is driven by the belief that all students can succeed when given the right tools and support. She began her career teaching English as a Second Language in South Korea and New York City, then went on to serve in multiple roles at a charter school in Newark, NJ—including math and science teacher, team leader, founding teacher, and instructional coach. Her work was recognized with the EPIC Spotlight Teacher Award for exceptional student achievement gains. Since 2012, Betsy has focused on educational assessment, working with EdTech startups and organizations supporting Title I schools. In 2021, she joined Discovery Education as an Assessment Specialist and now serves as a Senior Assessment Specialist, where she leads the development of high-quality, standards-aligned assessment content that supports meaningful learning. Betsy is especially passionate about the power of data-driven instruction to transform classrooms. She also serves as a board member of the Kennett Education Foundation, supporting educational excellence in her local community. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction.
